"The Earth is not immune to extreme weather conditions, whether an island nation in the corner of the ocean or a large country with a vast territory. So, our position is that governments should take immediate action to stop the indiscriminate oil and gas exploitation..." Representatives from the United Nations Environment Programme are making their case. On May 13th, the "One Day Experience Camp for National Youth Diplomats (Weekend Summit)" with topics of "Using Artificial Intelligence for Education Development" and "The Impact of Extreme Climate on Island Countries" was successfully held at the Merchiston International School for Children of Foreigners in Shenzhen (referred to as "MIS).

More than 50 young students from different schools in different cities acted as "diplomats" from other countries and introduced the rules of procedures of Model United Nations. Through speeches, debates, writing, consultation, and voting, they pushed the conference towards "seeking common ground while reserving differences" and sought solutions to hot international issues.

There are two committees of the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Environment Programme. The working language is Mandarin and English, respectively. To ensure the smooth running of the "UN conference," the "diplomats" carefully studied the rules of the procedure before the meeting and collected in-depth and detailed information about the political positions, foreign policies, and solutions of the countries they represent.

During the meeting, "foreign diplomats" immersed themselves in their national roles, confidently and calmly explaining their countries' political positions on the issue and solutions. They spoke loudly and robustly, fully demonstrating the diplomatic wisdom and strategic thinking of "diplomats," as well as their self-restraint, demeanor, and pattern. After many rounds of consultations, a draft resolution was finally adopted.

The Model United Nations academic exchange program not only exercises the students' ability to research, write, debate, and speak, but also broadens their international vision and makes many excellent students worldwide. Through mutual learning, we have enhanced mutual understanding and acquired precious friendships. As representatives of all countries, we have contributed to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

As an authentic British international school, MIS has been committed to cultivating global citizens with an international perspective and has integrated holistic education and developing an international perspective into students' daily teaching. It actively encourages students to engage in multilateral diplomatic activities to broaden their global perspective, learn to view world issues from an international perspective, and foster the consciousness of a community of shared future for humanity. Becoming a more responsible citizen of the world!
