To ignite senior students' passion for independent inquiry and bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience, students from Shenzhen Merchiston Castle School  embarked on a unique interdisciplinary adventure at the end of the academic year. This time, teachers and students stepped beyond the confines of the classroom and immersed themselves in the vast, awe-inspiring "natural classroom" of Yingxi Peak Forest. More than just a geographical expedition, this journey was a vivid embodiment and practice of MIS's core value—Resilience.

Transforming into true adventurers, senior students faced their inner fears amidst Yingxi's towering limestone peaks. With instructors calling out "Check your harness!" and "Secure your footing!", they scaled cliff faces—each grip and step a triumph over self-doubt.

The real test of courage came underground: helmet lights pierced the darkness as they navigated narrow cave passages, learning to steady their breath and calm racing hearts while discovering nature's hidden wonders. This was resilience in action—where every trembling step forward became a lesson in Resilience.

Armed with newly-learned knot-tying skills and limited materials, senior students brainstormed, designed and constructed their rafts from scratch during Challenge Week's flagship activity. Every step - from strategic planning to the final splash test - demanded seamless coordination, constant communication and unwavering trust in teammates. When their hand-built vessels finally carried the team's hopes across the river, the explosive cheers and triumphant high-fives across the water weren't just celebration - they were the living embodiment of Merchiston values: Teamwork, Respect and Resilience.

Beyond adventure, senior students immersed themselves in the world of tea culture. At Yingde Tea Plantation, they experienced: Hands-on harvesting - picking fresh tea leaves; Traditional tea processing - learning the art of roasting; Tea ceremony appreciation - witnessing the poetic dance of tea art, and Creative workshops - crafting hand-pulled milk tea. This journey through "the Aesthetics of Chinese Tea Culture" revealed the ancient wisdom transforming leaves into fragrant brews, while modern ecological farming practices sparked deep reflection on environmental responsibility.

Through sweat-soaked shirts and trembling muscles, MIS senior students discovered the true meaning of Resilience. Real courage? It's that moment when you push past your self-imposed limits.
