“我站在这里，是为了自己的成长，更是因为真心为曼校骄傲！”作为学校品牌大使，12年级学生Owen在开放日现场的分享坦诚又动人。这位在曼校度过8年时光的创校生、全额奖学金得主，用自己的亲身经历，为家长们揭开了曼校全人教育的核心密码。

Recently, Shenzhen Merchiston International School held a unique Campus Open Day. On that day, Owen, one of our founding students, took on the role of the school’s brand ambassador, unlocking the vivid image of holistic education through the story of his personal growth journey. His sincere sharing deeply touched the audience and combined with the school’s impressive academic achievements in recent years, it allowed visiting parents to witness the educational outcomes of ‘Academic Excellence with Warmth’, resulting in overwhelming satisfaction.

“I stand here for my own growth, and more importantly, because I am truly proud of MIS!” As the school’s brand ambassador, Year 12 student Owen delivered a sincere and touching speech at the Open Day. Having spent 8 years at MIS as a founding student and full scholarship recipient, he revealed the core of the school’s holistic education through his personal experiences.

Owen admitted that he initially chose MIS not only for its strong faculty, profound historical heritage, and excellent teacher-student ratio – “allowing me to receive adequate attention and support for academic and personalized development” – but also for its free and inclusive environment for growth. During the campus introduction at the Open Day, he detailed the school’s unique advantages: from high-quality facilities such as swimming pools, golf simulators practice room, and music recording studios, to diverse CIS-accredited courses, and even yoga classes to relieve exam stress, all of which made parents feel the thoughtfulness behind the curriculum design.

What moved parents even more was the ‘Education with warmth’ Owen spoke of: last year, when his class struggled with Chemistry, the teacher volunteered to hold 90-minute evening tutoring sessions every week to help everyone prepare for exams. This sense of responsibility and care beyond teaching is a true reflection of Merchiston’s faculty. The opportunities for personal growth provided by the school have also transformed Owen from an innocent teenager into a confident leader – as Clan Captain and Vice President of the Student Council, his leadership skills have continuously improved; the internship opportunity at Shenzhen Bay Laboratory obtained through the school’s resources, where he worked with a Harvard-educated PhD, further clarified his future career direction. 

Today, Owen is already an all-round top student with numerous international gold medals, including those from the World Scholar’s Cup and AMC (American Mathematics Competition). However, he values the lifelong growth abilities bestowed by Merchiston even more: “Interdisciplinary learning in classes and half an hour of daily independent reading have allowed me to accumulate cross-field knowledge and shape an independent critical thinking spirit.” On the Open Day, his confident and calm expression, along with his relaxed and friendly personality, served as the best testimony to the school’s holistic education.

At the Open Day, the full participation of our Executive Principal Ben and Chinese Principal Wendy added a sense of reassurance and depth to parents’ experience. The two principals not only personally led parents around every corner of the campus but also acted as ‘campus guides’ and ‘university admission consultants’, answering parents’ most concerned questions from a professional perspective.

Walking through the teaching area, our Executive Principal Ben detailed the functional layout of campus facilities in combination with the school’s international educational philosophy, with every detail closely aligned with the ‘holistic development’ training goal; Principal Wendy focused more on ‘Chinese-Western integration’ and ‘university admission planning’ that parents care about.
