Kirsty was born in Scotland but moved to England where she completed primary and secondary education before attending Leeds College of Music to complete a performance degree in Jazz Studies. After several years of private and peripatetic instrumental teaching, Kirsty attended Birmingham City University to complete her PGCE.
Following a period of working as a Music Teacher in the UK, Kirsty gained an interest in working with EAL students and completed her TEFL teaching qualification. Kirsty moved to China to teach in 2018 and has worked teaching Music and English in international schools in China and UAE. Kirsty is currently studying for her Masters in Education.
Kirsty started playing the clarinet when she was 9 years old and moved onto alto saxophone when she was 12. Soon after she moved to soprano saxophone and then baritone saxophone when she was 14, despite being less than 5 feet tall! Kirsty also plays the piano and is jazz and classically trained.
When not teaching or studying, Kirsty enjoys visiting and exploring new places, running and going out for long walks.
