Katie is an enthusiastic educator of Humanities. Having completed her Bachelor’s degree in Theology and her Master’s degree in World Religion from King’s College London, Katie’s predominant academic interest is the study of human behaviour and interaction. Katie enjoys teaching and exploring life’s big questions and wishes for students to thrive as critical thinkers of the world.
Katie completed Teach First’s Leadership Development Programme in 2020; she gained her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from University College London’s Institute of Education. Katie is in her fifth year of teaching; before teaching at Merchiston, Katie taught at a secondary school in South London for 4 years. Here, she gained extensive experience as Head of Religious Studies, Head of Year 12 and 13, and as Key Stage 5 Oxbridge and Medicine Coordinator. Katie has a keen interest in the UK university pathway system, in particular UCAS and Oxbridge Early Entry admissions, having successfully supported multiple students achieve places to study at institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, the London School of Economics, and Edinburgh University to name a few.
Katie is passionate about building positive and supportive relationships with students, enjoying pastoral responsibilities to support the personal development of the whole child.
Katie is a fluent Welsh speaker having grown up in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. She is a keen traveler, having visited 5 of the 7 continents so far.
