With a Master's degree in organic chemistry from Central China Normal University, Ian worked on a large number of research projects during those academic years. Meanwhile he published high-level papers as the first author in the top journal ACS NANO and owned a patent as well, which means he has a deep understanding and a broad horizon of scientific research.

He has been a chemistry teacher in international schools since graduation, and has rich experience of being a class teacher and teaching IGCSE and A-level chemistry. As a competition coach, he has helped more than 30 students win awards in international chemistry competitions, including ASOC, CCO, CCC and the UKChO, and he has been awarded the ASDAN Outstanding Competition Coach Award for many times.

Ian has a good habit of exercise such as fitness, basketball, badminton and table tennis, and always encourages students to develop a strong body and a strong mind.
