As one of the founding students of MIS, Luis has grown from a  teenager into an outstanding Year 13 graduate since his enrollment in 2018. Passionate about basketball and fond of the quiet moments in the fifth-floor study room, he has discovered his passion—Education—within the holistic learning environment of MIS.

After joining MIS, his academic excellence continued to shine: Luis's predicted A-Levels grades are A* in Chinese and Mathematics,  and A in Chemistry. His potential was further proven by receiving offers from seven top universities in the UK, US, and Canada.

Transferring from the United States to MIS Shenzhen, Luis has a deep understanding of different education systems. "The difference between public and international schools has made me realize how much education has an impact on kids' development." This insight led him to devote deeper into his research and even publish a paper on the comparison of public and international education systems.

At present, most of his offers major are  Education related. "Education can brighten up the future of a nation" he said. In the future, Luis plans to pursue a doctorate in education.

Luis holds an outstanding record of seven offers from the world's top universities. Yet life at MIS extended far beyond academics—he was a member of the school's basketball and swimming teams, played piano and guitar since childhood (even forming a band with classmates and giving performances at MIS), passionately collected vinyl records, and immersed himself in history books, travel photography, and fitness training.

"The first offer came from University of Manchester—totally unexpected, arriving just two days after I applied. The wait for UCL was agonizing, but it ended well. And NYU? I was in waitlist at first, I'm so surprised by a quick turnaround..." Reflecting on the application season, Luis was overwhelmed with emotion. He expressed special gratitude for his parents' unconditional support and his teachers' dedicated guidance, particularly Ms. Teresa—"She made mathematics fascinating and was always approachable, just like a friend."

Departing from MIS, Luis will continue to pursue his passion in education. Whether through devoted into academic research or exploring the world himself, he believes that true education enables one to see a broader future.
