International Primary Curriculum (IPC)

At Merchiston International School, students in the Junior School learn through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The IPC uses engaging thematic units to connect learning across subjects and help children understand how their learning relates to the wider world.

IPC learning develops Knowledge, Skills and Understanding alongside three areas of Learning Goals: Subject Learning Goals, Personal Learning Goals and International Learning Goals. Through inquiry, collaboration, reflection and purposeful real-world connections, students are encouraged to become confident, curious and internationally minded learners.

Across Longhua and Qianhai, teachers use IPC units to plan meaningful learning experiences, support progression and give students opportunities to apply their learning in different contexts.

  • The IPC helps our children see connections, ask big questions and make a

    positive difference in the world."
