On February 4th, the Baishilong Music Park in Longhua District was adorned with lights and decorations. The 2024 Chinese and Foreign Friends Spring Festival Garden Party, organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the Longhua District Government, was held here. Numerous international friends gathered to immerse themselves in the traditional Chinese culture. Onsite, Ms. Marion, the head of MIS (Merchiston International School), along with five outstanding foreign friends residing in Longhua District, were officially appointed as "Shenzhen Global Communication Envoys."

As city ambassadors, the "Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador” will share their stories about Shenzhen in various city image promotion and cultural exchange activities, as well as on social media platforms both domestically and internationally. They aim to convey the diverse, innovative, and open image of Shenzhen to the world, telling the stories of the miracle city, the innovation city, and the city of the future.

"I am very pleased to become a global communication ambassador and help more foreigners understand Shenzhen. Shenzhen is a vibrant city with extraordinary and unique stories. I hope to attract more people to visit Shenzhen by telling its stories well," shared Principal Marion in an interview with Shenzhen Daily reporters.

Principal Marion mentioned that in the future, MIS students, after graduating, will also work and study around the world. They will become ambassadors for spreading Chinese culture, telling Shenzhen's stories to the world, and weaving the bonds connecting Chinese culture to the global community.

It is reported that in the summer of 2022, at the age of over 70, Principal Marion, who had been teaching at her alma mater in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, for nearly 40 years, came to China alone. Despite the tight epidemic control situation nationwide, she spent over ten days in isolation in various cities, including Xi'an, in order to be a cultural ambassador for international education communication and strengthen the connection between her alma mater and Shenzhen MIS. The honorary title of "Shenzhen Global Communication Envoy" is the highest recognition given by the city of Shenzhen for Principal Marion's contributions to promoting international education exchange and development.

作为城市推荐官，“深圳全球传播使者”将在各类城市形象推广和文化交流活动中、海内外社交媒体平台上，分享他们与深圳的故事，向世界传递多元创新、开放包容的深圳形象，讲述奇迹之城、创新之城、未来之城的深圳故事。

“很高兴成为全球传播使者，帮助更多的外国人了解深圳。深圳是一座充满活力的城市，有着非凡而独特的故事。希望可以通过讲好深圳故事，来吸引更多的人拜访深圳。”Marion校长在接受Shenzhen Daily记者专访时分享了她成为“深圳全球传播使者”的感受。

Marion校长表示，未来曼校的学生毕业后也将进入全球各地工作学习，他们也将成为传播中国优秀文化的使者，向世界讲好深圳故事，编织好中华文化连接世界的纽带。

据悉，2022年夏天，在英国爱丁堡母校执教近40载，年逾七旬的Marion校长在全国疫情防控仍在吃紧的时候，为了当好国际教育传播的文化使者，加强母校与深圳曼校之间的链接，在语言不通的情况下，只身一人来到中国，先后在西安等地辗转隔离十余天。而“深圳全球传播使者”的荣誉称号，则是对深圳市对Marion校长为推动国际教育交流发展所做出的贡献，给予的最大肯定。
