本周是曼校的心理健康主题周。在周一晨会上,心理咨询师Jenny Jiang老师以一场引人深思的演讲拉开了活动序幕。她强调,心理健康是一个广泛而深刻的话题,渗透于生活的方方面面,并与多学科紧密相连。为此,各学科教师将在本周的教学中融入心理健康相关内容,帮助学生理解心理健康与不同领域的关联。
本次心理健康周围绕四个核心主题展开:韧性、正念、积极沟通与感恩,旨在通过多样化的活动提升全校师生的心理健康意识。
正念启程:冥想唤醒身心
作为开场活动,瑜伽老师Angelina带领全体师生进行了一场十分钟的正念冥想。随着柔和的背景音响起,Castle礼堂的灯光渐暗,师生们闭目凝神,在深呼吸中感受当下的平静与力量,以饱满的状态迎接新的一天。
周二:韧性——“再试一次”
我们常常乐于分享成功,却鲜少谈及失败。然而,失败才是人生的常态。周二的“再试一次”主题活动鼓励师生们敞开心扉,分享自己的失败经历。无论是学业挫折、社交困境,还是个人成长中的磕绊,这些故事将帮助我们认识到:失败并不可怕,也无需羞愧。唯有接纳失败,才能锻造更强的心理韧性。
周三:正念运动——专注当下
正念是一种将注意力集中于当下、不加评判地觉察自身感受的练习。研究表明,正念能提升专注力、缓解压力,并对身心健康和学习效率产生积极影响。
本周,学校提供了多种正念体验方式:
正念行走:三楼大厅的地面贴有指引,师生可跟随提示,专注于脚步的触感,感受行走中的平静。
太极晨练:周三早晨,中学部全体师生将一同体验太极这一中国传统运动,在缓慢而流畅的动作中培养专注与平衡。
Tai ChI
周四:积极沟通——“不说但是”
语言塑造思维。当他人分享喜悦时,若以“但是”回应,无形中会削弱对方的积极性。周四的“不说但是”活动倡导一种更温暖的交流方式——用真诚的肯定代替转折,不仅让对话更愉快,也能培养更积极的思维方式。
周五:感恩——记录感恩生活中的美好
感恩是提升幸福感的重要方式。周五早晨,每位师生将收到一张心形便签,邀请大家写下感恩的话语。无论多细微的美好都值得被感恩。
心理健康周的结束,并非关怀的终点。曼校始终将学生的心理健康置于首位,愿每位师生都能在此次活动中有所收获,并在未来的日子里持续关注自我与他人的心理成长。
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week in MIS. At Monday’s assembly, school counselor Ms. Jenny Jiang kicked off the event with an insightful speech. She emphasized that mental health is a broad and profound topic, deeply intertwined with all aspects of life and connected to multiple academic subjects. Throughout the week, teachers will incorporate mental health themes into their lessons, helping students explore its relevance across different fields.
The week’s activities revolve around four core themes: Resilience, Mindfulness, Positive Communication, and Gratitude, aiming to foster greater mental well-being awareness among students and staff.
Mindful Beginnings:
Meditation to Awaken Body and Mind
The opening event featured a 10-minute mindfulness meditation led by yoga instructor Angelina. As soothing background narration played, the lights in Castle Hall dimmed, and students and teachers closed their eyes, focusing on their breath to cultivate presence and calm before starting the day.
Resilience:
“Try Again Tuesday”
We often celebrate success but rarely talk about failure. Yet, setbacks are a natural part of life. Tuesday’s "Try Again" theme encouraged students and teachers to share personal stories of failure—whether academic struggles, social challenges, or personal obstacles. By normalizing these experiences, we reinforce that failure is nothing to fear or be ashamed of. Only by embracing setbacks can we build true resilience.
Mindfulness:
“Mindful Moving Wednesday”
Mindfulness is the practice of focusing on the present moment without judgment. Research shows it enhances concentration, reduces stress, and benefits both mental and physical well-being.
This week, the school offered multiple ways to experience mindfulness:
Mindful Walking: Guided pathways on the third-floor lobby allowed students to focus on each step, grounding themselves in the present.
Tai Chi Morning Session: On Wednesday, the secondary school gathered for a Tai Chi workshop, experiencing the meditative flow of this traditional Chinese practice to cultivate balance and focus.

Positive Communication:
"But Free Thursday"
Words shape thoughts. When someone shares good news, responding with "but" can unintentionally diminish their joy. Thursday’s "No Buts" challenge promoted a more uplifting communication style—replacing qualifiers with wholehearted encouragement, fostering a more positive mindset in ourselves and others.
Gratitude:
"Grateful Friday"
Gratitude is a powerful way to boost happiness. On Friday morning, every student and teacher received a heart-shaped note to jot down something they were thankful for— No moment of kindness is too small to be thankful for.
While Mental Health Week may end, MIS’s commitment to well-being continues. We hope this week inspires everyone to carry forward these practices, nurturing their own and others’ mental health long after.
